Photograph the majestic schooners of New England and the beauty of Cape Ann throughout the day from the harbor and then on a chase boat following them as they race. We will start out by photographing the ships as they parade out of Gloucester Harbor and then board a 2-1/2 hour ride on the best chase boat in town. From there we will photograph the vessels as they race past the end of the channel. We will return to port in time to catch them coming back in and then after a late lunch/early dinner, we will head out to shoot some of the best sites on the Cape Ann peninsula. Central Massachusetts sports primarily rolling hills, woodlands and farms and in the fall they come to life. While not as well known as other areas in the state, it has a great deal of scenic opportunities near the reservoirs, state parks and historical sites. Beginning at Gibbet Hill, we shoot sunrise over Groton and then move on to the Wayside Inn in Sudbury, a historic inn and working flour mill. We also explore some of the most photogenic landscape subjects of Central MA, including the Wachusett Aqueduct, and the Sawmill of Moore State Park. We conclude the day at the majestic old stone Church, a fantastic spot for capturing sunset over the reservoir.  Lunch is included. Harvesting cranberries is fascinating to watch and fun to photograph. Add on the spectacular Nobska Lighthouse and finish it up with sunset over The Knob, an ideal Cape Cod experience An afternoon workshop covering David’s three favorite locations in Falmouth. Starting at 1 PM, we will visit 1-2 of the small but accessible cranberry bogs. We will then move to Nobska Lighthouse and work on shooting from close up and long distance. We will end the workshop where we start at Quissett Harbor for a 10 minute walk to The Knob: a premier sunset location on the Cape. We will arrive a couple of hours before sunset to shoot demonstrations of classic Christmas projects inside the buildings. You’ll enjoy walking from the Common to the Countryside as you enjoy the festive, outdoor decorations, Christmas Tree Trail, and Christmas Wish Bridge. At dusk, the village transforms into a night-time landscape wonderland. There are opportunities from macro and closeup with fine details to architecture to character portraits to landscapes. We will photograph both indoors and outdoors in all types of lighting situations and is as interesting for the beginner as it is for the serious photographer.
