The goal of the Self-Guided Workshop Series is to eliminate the time spent finding and scouting out locations and allowing you to spend more time photographing beautiful landscapes. I have spent hundreds of hours scouting out locations, first with the many online tools and then visiting the location in person, in some cases multiple times. The images are from some of my favorite locations and the photo data in the e-book is meant to represent a starting point, but since every day brings different weather, lighting, colors and opportunities, I trust you will quickly find your own representation of the scene.

The southern Maine coast is a wonderful mix of rocky coast lines, long sandy beaches, iconic summer resort towns and rustic fishing villages. Included in the mix is the city of Portland which retains it architectural charm while providing many of the best restaurants and shopping experiences in New England. This eBook focuses on the 60 mile stretch along Route 1 (preferred versus Interstate 95) from Portland to Kittery. Along this route you will find the very accessible beach towns of Ogunquit and Old Orchard, the fishing villages of Cape Porpoise and Perkins Cove, iconic lighthouses including Nubble Light and Portland Head Light and the architecturally preserved buildings and wharfs of Portland. All of the locations are easy to find, park and get to and present unique photo opportunities in every season.
